Join the club The club is open to skiers from every age group. If you love to ski and are keen to share your experience with other like minded people - this is the club for you. We can train you to race for your country, or simply hone your skiing skills and make you the envy of your friends when you get out on the piste! We believe that learning to ski should be fun, safe and enjoyable. Folkestone Ski Club employs the finest coaches with fully accredited qualifications. The only requirements to join are as follows: 1. You are must be able to do basic 'snow plough' turns, use the Poma lift and ski in control. If you are a beginner Folkestone Ski Centre offers a comprehensive programme of lessons, ranging from individual to group lessons. Contact them on 01303 850333. 2. To get the best performance you must be prepared to commit time for regular training. The club is very popular and often has a waiting list of people wanting to join. We know that members cannot attend every session, but we do ask that you come as often as possible. Before joining the club you will be invited to a free taster session, to see if it is for you. Membership is £7 per year payable on joining and renewable on 1st January each year. The club is affiliated to Snowsport England. You will need to complete a membership form and 2 copies of an indemnity form advising the club of any medical conditions we need to be aware of. Training sessions take place in school term time. Fees are payable in advance, usually £30 with a £5 reduction for additional members of the family. A further £5 can be deducted if fees are paid on or before the first training session of each term. There are normally 10-14 one and a half hour sessions per term. This is fantastic value for money. Download form for term fees. A further fee of £5.00is payable to Folkestone Ski Centre each time you attend a training session. This covers the cost of using the slope, boots and skis. If you attend regularly each session costs you a maximum of £7. That is very cheap for 1 1/2 hours of high quality coaching. All members are encouraged to take part in the Snowsport Awards Scheme. The club has some equipment, including skis and helmets that can be borrowed on a first come first served basis. However we recommend that members aim to purchase their own equipment. We recommend that all skiers wear helmets when training through race poles. For current membership details please contact Jenny @ Folkestone Ski Centre 01303 850333 or send an email to committee@folkestoneskiclub.com |
